In  SEREADMO (SEcurite REseaux AD hoc et MOjette) project,  a  new  routing  protocole  is proposed  for  adhoc  networks.  This  protocole is based on OLSR, it is different  from current  protocols which require a lot  of resources  on  the  mobile  node  for  very  poor  performance  in  terms of quality of service and security.

In this project, a new approach is adopted, integrating a concept of distributed broadcasting in the basic primitive of both the security and routing. To do this, the use "Transform mojettes" as a fundamental element of the protocol associated with the MIMO technology in the broadcasting taking the security as a main requierment. This project is based on olsrv2 including its knowledge of the topology to implement an algorithm for selecting multiple routes to be used for encoding and transmitting information.

This postdoc is associated with the project ANR RNRT SEREADMO which is involved in the   team. The goal is you deal with issues of security, energy consumption or propagation of a radio wave in wireless networks.

PhD Thesis : Trust management for securing routing protocols : study of OLSR

Ad hoc route discovery and maintenance introduce specific security problems, for routing protocols to prevent, detect or respond. Solutions to secure these routing protocols using some centralized units or trusted third-parties actually constrain the self-organization of ad hoc networks. In our work, we propose for OLSR the integration of trust reasonings into each node behavior, so as to allow a self-organized trust-based control to help nodes to detect misbehavior attacks. Our analysis of OLSR brings out the trust rules that characterize this protocol and allows us to express formally the trust-related properties that can be verified by each node to assess the correct behavior of the other nodes.

When a node has identified a compromised route, a first approach consists in locally changing the MPR selection so as to black-list the neighbor node that is the next-hop of the compromised route. Such approach can be enhance by allowing nodes to share their trust information. However, it is worth to point out that second-hand information can be subject to false accusations. To mitigate this problem, we plan to set up a mechanism that allows each node to give a proof of its mistrust opinion to participate in the propagation of mistrust  towards the network. Such a mechanism could be used to enforce a reputation systems by  establishing trust relationships before cooperating with the other nodes
